About 31 percent of the Fijian population lives in poverty. While 65 percent of children are enrolled at the primary level only 33 percent make it to the secondary level, according to a report by Humanium Fiji.

Due to family and financial issues, several children are denied the right to a formal education, thereby becoming a contributor to future poverty.

To make a difference, I started a self-funded charity in 2011 to help one student from Sigatoka. When I visited this child for the first time she told me that she wanted to become a doctor.

Her excitement and positivity to study further encouraged me to reach out to more students which eventually lead to establishing Vision @ AZP.

Since 2012, Vision @ AZP has helped six children by looking after their welfare with a particular focus on their education.

And of course, my first sponsored student is now in her third-year of Bachelor Of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Fiji
